A recent issue that has been losing in Tax Court are charitable donations exceeding $250.00 where donors have failed to obtain a letter confirming donation from the charity. If you file your taxes AND THEN GET A LETTER DATED AFTER THE FILING DATE, it will NOT count and will be considered too late. So remember especially during this time of year, if you donate more than $250.00 GET A LETTER FROM THE CHARITY if you are planning to use on your taxes.  The following link from the IRS explains what is needed…
